2009: Dholera Smart City’s inception and planning

Earlier, in the year 2009, Dholera Smart City’s dream got approval. However, government was thinking about it from the year 2008. With many positive conflicts, in 2009 Dholera SIR’s plan got approval and everyone celebrated the news with open arms. It was introduced under the body of the DSIR initiative as a part of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor. This project’s goal was to offer new technology, and infrastructure advancements to the people of Gujarat and India. Dholera Smart City was allocated three different areas for industrial, residential and commercial zones.

2013: Got approval as Special Investment Region

Then in the year 2013, Dholera under the Gujarat State Government’s Act supported by the Government of India got approval as a Special Investment Region. With this designation, it will call out for domestic and foreign investment. Once this was approved in 2015 the Trunk Infrastructure development also started. And it gave the push to the main necessities of every city like road, water supply and power supply. With these all Dholera Smart City’s dream started to come as a reality.

2016: International Partnerships and Investment MoUs

Once everything was started in 2016, it was the time to spread the news about developments and attract domestic as well as foreign investors for funding. So, in 2016, the government started various activities that led people to invest in Dholera SIR. And then, the on-ground construction began in the year 2018. Projects like the International Airport, different buildings, etc started to take shape in Dholera SIR.

2020: Transport and Connectivity

In the year 2020, Dholera SIR boosted the speed of its growth, and transportation and connectivity options were added to it. This year added connectivity options like the Ahmedabad-Dholera expressway, a metro link to  Gandhinagar and Dholera, the International airport, etc. Then in 2022, it took its first step toward green energy and introduced a solar park that will generate electricity for the whole of Dholera Smart City. The aim behind this is to reduce emissions and step into a renewable energy plant.

2023: Industrial and Commercial development

Dholera Smart City does offer all the amenities that are necessary to build and nurture a family but it also offers the best place to launch your industrial and commercial ventures. With its many advantages, it has created space where investors get attracted to invest their money in. Shopping centers, sports clubs, high-tech education, cutting-edge technology and many other things are under construction and will soon craft a new identity for Dholera SIR.

2024 and Coming years:

As per the reports and developments, we can see that there are almost 50% of construction work is done. Call it Ahmedabad-Dholera expressway, Intercity bus stations, Metro stations, International airport, and many other things. From the officials, it has been noted that Tata semiconductor will launch its 2nd phase soon. In a nutshell, the coming years gonna bring more adventures and exciting things to Dholera SIR.
