Dholera International Airport: Driving Gujarat’s Future with Global Connectivity

Once it is constructed fully, it can have an annual capacity of 50 million passengers. This Greenfield  Airport is expected to have 2 runways. The first runway will be built in phase one. It has the capacity to handle 30 million passengers per year. The second runway will be built under the second phase, and it will have a capacity to accommodate around 20 million passengers.

The Greenfield Airport will distract the traffic that gathers around at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport, Ahmedabad. It will also serve the other regions of Gujarat, like Rajkot, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Kheda, Nadiad, and Anand.

The project does not end here; it also offers the city transportation facilities. The National Authority of India has also acquired a 120-meter-wide strip extending from Dholera smart city to Ahmedabad. In which 90 meters will be the 6-lane expressway and 30 meters will be the metro.

Dholera Greenfield International Airport is being constructed under the company formed by the Gujarat Government named Dholera International Airport Company LTD. This project will be constructed together in a Public-Private Partnership. The Greenfield International Airport has got the approvals from the government, which are listed below.

• No Objection to the construction of an International Airport from the Ministry of Defense (MoD)
• Site Clearance for the project from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA)
• Environment Clearance for the Project from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry & Climate Change. (MoEF)
• In-principle approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA)
